About Us

A Lifelong Passion Turned Business

Those Old Records, based in Alnwick, has been trading since 2005. What started as a lifelong passion for vinyl records has grown into a dedicated online business serving collectors across the UK and beyond.

Vinyl isn’t just what we sell – it’s what we live and breathe.

Our Background & Experience

Before moving fully online, we operated a physical record shop in Rugeley, Staffordshire for 11 years. We were among the early specialists focusing exclusively on vinyl, giving us deep-rooted experience in the market long before the format’s resurgence.

This background shapes everything we do today – from how we grade records to how we deal with customers.

Selling Your Vinyl Collection

We buy complete vinyl record collections across the UK – distance is never an issue. From the far north of Scotland to the Cornish coast, we travel nationwide. Typically, we don’t purchase Easy Listening and Standard Chart Pop Collections.

Jazz

From classic pressings to rare recordings, jazz collections often hold strong value – especially original issues and well-kept albums.

Rock

A broad and highly sought-after category. From classic rock to heavy and progressive, we’re always interested in quality collections.

Reggae

Original reggae pressings, dub, and roots records are in high demand, particularly rare or early releases.

Indie / Punk / Alternative

Independent labels, underground scenes, and niche pressings often carry real collector interest and value.

Vicious Nature

Powerful and uncompromising — heavy, aggressive sounds for those who like their music loud and unapologetic.

What Affects the Value of Your Records?

One of the most common questions we’re asked is: “How much are my records worth?”

The honest answer is – it depends. Every collection is different, and several key factors determine true value.

Condition is Everything

The state of both the vinyl and sleeve plays a major role. Scratches, wear, and damage can significantly impact value, while well-preserved records command much higher prices.

Pressings & Editions Matter

Not all records are equal. Original pressings are often far more valuable than reissues – even if they look identical at first glance.

Rarity & Demand

Some records are simply harder to find. Limited releases, niche genres, and sought-after artists can drive strong collector demand.

Experience You Can Trust

With decades in the industry, we provide honest, informed valuations. We understand the market and respect the history behind every collection.
